Genesis 6:4  There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that,

I was reading about this last night and thought it was worth Googling and sharing.  The topic of giants is one that I am so intrigued with and have been studying, and I’ve been wanting to post on it for awhile.  It is such a huge subject (no pun intended), this will no doubt morph into many other posts.  It is something most people have relegated off to fairytale-land and mythology.  Yet there has been an incredible amount of suppressed historical and archaeological proof of giants in the United States alone that groups of giant men and women existed.

Archeological dig at Tell es-Safi in 2005 reveals pottery shards bearing the name of Goliath, as in David and Goliath. The site is where the Philistine area of Gath used to be, home of Goliath, the pottery dates to the same time period as the narrative of David and Goliath. Pretty cool. 😎😎😎   Project Overview of Tell es-Safi/Gath Archaeological Dig – Official Website

1 Samuel 17:4-7
4 And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.
5 And he had an helmet of brass upon his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail; and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of brass.
6 And he had greaves of brass upon his legs, and a target of brass between his shoulders.
7 And the staff of his spear was like a weaver’s beam; and his spears head weighed six hundred shekels of iron; and one beating a shield went before him.
A cubit is generally considered around 18 inches. A shekel was 1/4 oz, so his armor alone would have been roughly 1250 ounces, or 78 pounds. Just a little food for thought. I guess you can say he was a pretty big guy.
